​​​Harbour Watch is able to offer tailored programs to suit a range of year levels and subjects. Investigations allow students to engage with syllabus inquiry skills from a range of subject areas. Harbour Watch is well suited in geography and science however can be delivered with a cross-curricular focus to suit mathematics, history and English with an environmental focus. Harbour Watch programs inherently align with Science as Human Endeavour, Science Inquiry skills and Geographical Inquiry and skills. We have identified units of work from Year 2 to Year 6 curriculum that would suit a Harbour Watch investigation.

Year 2

Science—Earth and space science: Earth's resources are used in a variety of ways.

Year 3

Science—Biological science: Living things can be grouped on the basis of observable features and can be distinguished from non-living things.

Geography—Similarities and differences between places in terms of their type of settlement, demographic characteristics and the lives of the people who live there.

Year 4

Science

Biological science: Living things depend on each other and the environment to survive.

Earth and space science: Earth's surface changes over time as a result of natural processes and human activity.

Geography—The importance of environments to animals and people, natural resources provided by the environment, and sustainable management of waste from production and consumption.

Year 5

Science—Biological science: Living things have structural features and adaptions that help them to survive in their environment.

Geography—The influence of the environment and people on places, and the impact of natural disasters such as bushfires and floods on places and people.

Year 6

Science—Biological science: The growth and survival of living things are affected by physical conditions of their environment

Geography—The various connections Australia has with other countries and how these connections change people and places, and the effects that people’s connections with places have on shaping their awareness and opinion.
