Using Vernier Water Quality Testing Equipment to take readings from the local dam.

Boyne Island Environmental Education Centre hosted a STEM Camp for year 8 & 9 girls in Central Queensland. During their stay the girls explored the water quality of local a local dam by investigating biotic and abiotic factors. Girls used a variety of scientific equipment in the field and in the laboratory. Investigations included identifying macroinvertebrates and chemical analysis of water samples. Using the Water Quality Index Method and the macroinvertebrates they found, the girls were able to give the dam a Water Quality Rating. It was pleasing to see they all gave the dam a rating of Good.
