MyWater Community Portal

30/01/2018

Harbour Watch is excited to announce the opening of our MyWater Community Portal for Gladstone Harbour and surrounding catchment waterways.

Thanks to the generous funding of the Fitzroy Basin Association (FBA), Harbour Watch has been able to work closely with EnviroScore to develop the MyWater Harbour Watch Community Portal.

This portal allows for on-site entering of water quality data by our local citizen scientists to obtain an instantaneous grade of the health of the monitored waterway on a smart phone or tablet. The portal also enables the community, including schools and interested community groups, to investigate historical data for a particular waterway.

Water quality data collected by local citizens is directly entered into the MyWater Portal and a grade from A--E is generated for that waterway. Multiple water quality parameters can be measured including the abiotic & biotic indicators such as pH, salinity, turbidity, presence of weeds and water bugs.

It is hoped that the ease of interpreting and publishing water quality ratings using MyWater Harbour watch Community Portal will generate active participation in this important citizen science project and promote greater stewardship of local waterways.
